The peplum jackets and dresses are still so chic. This overskirt became popular in the 40's but came back in the 80's and it's still a beautiful touch today.
I suppose that it was during this period that many design houses began to hire artists to sketch or paint designs for garments. The images were shown to clients, which was much cheaper than producing an actual sample garment in the workroom.
